Shining Star-CHAPTER SEVEN
"He has 28 stiches in his head, as well as a concusion. His knee is sprained, he has 3 ribs that have hairline fractures, not to metion alot of cuts and bruises. AJ is er lucky though. There are no signs of internal bleeding. We'd like to keep him here over night for observation. As long as he gets plenty o rest and doesn't strain himslef, he should be back to normal in about 2 weeks." "Can we see him?" Adrianne asked. "Of course." the doctor replied, "He's in room 69."
Adrianne went into the room. AJ's face just lit up when he saw her. Adrianne carefull sat on the bed. "Hi baby." AJ said, kissing Adrianne on the lips. "Owww" Adrianne said, rubbing her thumb against her lip. AJ looked very concerned, "Oh my god, did I hurt you? I'm sorry. I'm so stupid...." "No you didn't." Adrianne replied, "And you're not stupid." Brian then walked in. "Hi AJ." he said, "How are you?" "I've been better."AJ replied. "The doctor said you have to stay here overnight." Adrianne said. "But I don't want to." AJ wined, "Besides, the food here tastes like crap." Brian laughed, "We'll sneak ya in some McDonalds later."
"You better get some sleep." Adrianne said to AJ, "I'll be in the waiting room if you need me." "Ok." AJ replied, "I love you." "I love you too." Adrianne said.
As Adrianne and Brian walked down the hall, Brian said, "Do you need a place to stay? You more than welcome to stay with me and Kayluh. We have plenty o extra rooms." "Thanks Brian." Adrianne replied, "But I'm gonna go live with AJ."
Just then theysay Nick coming down the hall. "Oh my god!" Nick said, looking at Adrianne's face, "Are you ok?" "Yeah I'm fine." Adrianne told him, "It looks worse than it really is." Nick handed Adrianne her backpacks. "How's AJ?" Nick asked. "He's gonna be ok." Adrianne replied. She started to cry. Brian rested his hand on Adrianne's shoulder, "What's the matter?" Adrianne said, "I was so scared that AJ as gonna die. I don't know what I'd do without him." Nick smiled faintly, "You really love AJ, don't you?" Adrianne nodded yes, "You have no idea how happy he makes me." "I guess we should go." Brian said, "Call me when you need a ride." Adrianne hugged both Brian and Nick.
After 20 minutes, Adrianne couldn't stand sitting there. She went toward AJ's room, but a nurse stoped her and said, "I'm sorry miss, but it's not visiting hours." "Listen lady," Adrianne said, "I'm tired of people ordering me around. I don't care what you say. I'm gonna go visit my boyfriend." Adrianne walked straight into the room.
"I brought you this." Adrianne said to AJ. She handed him a huge McDonalds bag. "Thanks angelbaby. Anything is better than this crap." He pointed to a trey that had runny mashe potatoes and some sort of weird, grey meat.
"What are those bags for?" AJ asked. "I'm moving out of Kevin's house." Adrianne said, "Can I live with you?" "Of course. You didnt even have to ask." AJ smiled.
There was a knock on the door. "Excuse me." a man dressed in a police uniform said, "Sorry to interupt. I'm Sargent Moore. I'd like to ask you two a few questions." Adrianne looked at AJ. "Remember what I told you." she whispered. They told Sargent Moore the whole story that Adrianne had made up. Suprizingly, he beleived them. "Ok" Sargent Moore said, "I'll write it up on the report. However, we'll ned to talk to your cousin Brian, Ms. Richardson."
Adrianne called Brian and he came down about 15 minutes later. "Mr. Littrell?" Sargent Moore questioned. "That's me." Brian said. Sargent Moore continued, "Adrianne and AJ told me that they were robbed while on their way to your house. Is this true?" Brian gave Adrianne and AJ a weird look. He saw the despratness in Adrianne's eyes. "Yeah." Brian said, "It's true." Sargent Morre asked Brian if he had seen what the robber(s) looked ike. Brian told him no. After a couple more questions, Sargent Moore left.
The next morning, AJ was all ready to leave. He couldn't wait to get out of there. After signing some papers, Adrianne and AJ aited outside for Brian. It took AJ a while toget down the steps because he was on crutches. "How long do you have to be on those?" Adrianne asked. "A week." AJ replied.
"Why'd you have me lie to the police?" Brian asked as they drove out of the hospital. "Think about it Brian." Adrianne said, "If the press found out that Kevin was the one that beat AJ, it would totally destroy the groups image. Do you want that?" "No" Brian replied, "You're right."
They arrived at AJ's house about 20 minutes later. "Call me if you need anything." Brian said. "ok." Adrianne told him.
"You can sit down." AJ said as he and Adrianne entered the house. Adrianne sat on the couch. AJ sat next to Adrianne and turned on the tv. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder. Normally, Adrianne would have rested her head on AJ's chest, but instead she just sat there. AJ knew something was up. "What's wrong?" he asked.
Adrianne sighed, "Nothing." AJ didn't beleive her, "If nothings wrong then why won't you touch me?" "I don't want to hurt you." Adrianne said. AJ replied, "Angelbaby, you won't hurt me. It'll actually help me get better." Adrianne smiled and snuggled closer to AJ.
"I'm hungry." AJ said. He hobbled over to the kitchen and looked in the refrigerator, "Umm...there's nothing really in here. Wanna get some pizza?" "Sure." Adrianne said. AJ got on the phone and ordered it.
That night, Adrianne and AJ lyed together in bed. Adrianne held onto AJ tighter than she normally did. Tears formed in her eyes. AJ noticed this, Why are you crying?" "I was so scared you were gonna die." Adrianne said. AJ held Adrianne closer, "Yeah, but I didn't. I'm right here." Adrianne kissed him. AJ began lifting upAdrianne's shit, unclasping her bra. "Alex" Adrianne said in between kisses, "Maybe we shouldn't do this untill you're better." "Are you crazy?" AJ asked, "You know me." Adrianne laughed, "Yeah, I do." She smiled as her and AJ made love throughout the night.
Adrianne woke up at about 11:00am the next morning. It felt so good to have AJ's loving arms wrapped around her body. AJ woke up a little while later and gently kissed Adrianne's neck and shoulders. "I'm gonna get us some breakfast." Adrianne said, "What do you want?" "I can get it myself." AJ replied. "No." Adrianne said, "The doctor said you need to get some rest." AJ rolle his eyes, "Ok, I'll have some yogurt. Why are you so stubborn?" Adrianne leaned in for a kiss, "Because I love you."
Adrianne went downstairs, got AJ's yogurt, and got herself a bowl of Coco Puffs. When she got back up to her and AJ's room, she noticed that AJ was just hanging up the phone. "What are you doing?" Adrianne asked as she handed AJ his yogurt. "It's a suprize." he told her.
As they ate, AJ remembered something, "Damn, I left my backpack at the warehouse." "I'll go get it" Adrianne said. She reached for her jacket, but AJ pulled her back. "No! I don't want you to go. The guys are there right now. You'll run into Kevin. I don't want him to hurt you again." "He won't hurt me." Adrianne said, "The guys won't let him."
Kevin was extremely tired as he entered the warehouse. He hadn't gotten any sleep since all of this had happend. Kristin had kicked Kevin out of their bedroom, forcing im to sleep on the couch.
Just as Kevin stepped into the room, everyone went silent. Brian, Nick, and Howie gave Kevin nasty looks. "Hi Brian." Kevin said to his cousin. Brian didn't say a word, he just walked to the other side of the room Kevin walked over to Nick. "What's up Nick?" Nick put on his headphones, turned the volume all the way up, and acted like Kevin wasn't even there. Kevin was confused. "Howie....." Howie didn't say anything to Kevin as well. Now Kevin was pissed, "Ok, what is this? Everybody Ignore Kevin day? What's everyones problem?" Bian stood up, "We're not the ones with the problem Kev. YOU are! How could you go so far as to hurt your own sister? And poor AJ...... you almost killed him!" Nick then walked over with tears in his eyes and said, "I never thought you could be so mean Kev. Adrianne's like my sister and AJ's like my brother. I thought you were my brother too. I guess I was wrong." "I suppose your gonna bitch at me too Howie?" Kevin said. "No not really." Howie replied, "I just don't get it. Why would anyone want to hurt their little sister?" "I didn't mean to hurt Adrianne!" Kevin shouted, "It was an accident. She just got in my way."
"Guys c'mon." Fatima shouted, "We need to get to work." "I suppose your mad at me too?" Kevin said. "Yes" Fatima said, "But that doesn't really matter right now. We need to start rehearsal."
After working hard for about an hour, the guys took a break. Brian, Nick, and Howie were still avoiding Kevin.
All of a suuden, Adrianne walked in the room. Fatima, Brian, Nick, and Howie looked at her with concern. Kevin stood there in shock. This was the first time he ad seen his sister since everything had happend. He saw the stiches in her lip and her black eye.
"AJ forgot his backpack." Adrianne announced. Brian, Nick, and Howie quickly walked over to her. "Are you ok?" Howie asked. "Yeah I'm fine." Adrianne replied. They asked her how AJ was. She told them he was ok and that he was resting at home.
Adrianne got AJ's backpack and walked toward the door, only looking at Kevin very briefly." "Adrianne..." Kevin said. Adrianne didn't say anything. Kevin spoke again, "C'mon Adrianne. Why won't you talk to me?" Adrianne turned around and laughed slightly, "You're actually asking me why? How stupid can you get Kev? First of all, you it me with a baseball bat!!" "That was an accident." Kevin said, "I'm sorry." "Well, then there's the MAIN reason." Adrianne continued, "You almost beat my boyfriend to death!" Kevin rolled his eyes, "I wish you would stop reffering to AJ as that." "Well get se to it." Adrianne snapped, "I'm gonna be with AJ no matter what you say. You cant control me anymore."
"I'm not controlling." Kevin said.
Adrianne shook her head in disbelief, "You are controlling! You just don't see it. You've been trying to control me ever since Dad died. You think you're protecting me, but you're only hurting me. Just look at this!"
Adrianne lifted up her sleeve and showed Kevin the faded scar on her wrist.
"When did you do this?" Kevin asked.
"My 15th birthday." Adrianne said, "Do you remember what you did that day?"
"Yeah of course." Kevin replied, "But I didn't think it would cause you to do that!"
"Well it did!" Adrianne said, "I don't understand how anyone could be so heartless. Before I go, answer this..... you were gonna let AJ die...weren't you?"
Kevin was silent. He just had a blank look on his face.
Adrianne shook her head, "I thought so. You are so mean! I HATE YOU KEVIN!!! You're not my brother anymore!"
Adrianne slammed the door behind her. Kevin just stood there. A small tear trickled down his face.
